Carl Sandburg beautifully illustrates poetry by calling it a journal - journal of sea animals living on land, wishing to fly into the air. Poets actually search for syllables to shoot at the borders of unkown and unknowable. You can say it's a phantom script which gives explaination to the phenomenon of appearing and disappearing of rainbows. Short poems are a peculiar form of modern poetry. They are short but short poems are not meant to convey a shorter or immediate meaning. They just consist of a few lines - say 4 to 5 depending on the type of the poem.
