‘Tom is now friends with Tina’; “Rebecca took the ‘what color are you?’ Quiz” or ‘what kind of stone are you? Sounds familiar? Although Facebook is a social networking website, but there is a thin line between knowing someone and knowing too much about them! (Seriously. what kind of a hat are you?!)
Tired of all this virtual trash? Want to remove annoying messages from your facebook page? Well, say hello to Facebook Purity, an add-on to clean up your page from notifications and alerts from such applications and quizzes. Don’t expect any drastic changes, but worthwhile nevertheless.
Facebook Purity is actually a script that requires the ‘Greasemonkey add-on for Firefox’. Once you’ve installed that and restarted Firefox, just install the FP script, restart Firefox again, and fire up Facebook.
The clean up is not radical (but in all fairness its does remove annoying messages from Facebook), but the FB Purity hid icon at the top right will keep you updated as shown below:
All extra applications removed by the add-on can be seen on the counter. Curious much? Just click the ‘Show’ link for both categories.
If you want to edit the list of apps and extras Facebook Purity blocks, see the developer’s FAQ page. The best part is that the script is free of cost but (behold) shall you feel generous and willing to pay the developer for his effort, just click the Donate button on his page to make a contribution via PayPal.
The application is compatible with multiple browsers like Google Chrome, Opera, and Safari. The script however is a bit more complicated. Again, see the FAQ page for details. And hence you just learned how to remove annoying messages from your facebook home page
