How to Connect Two or More Computers
Many people had been facing the same problem what I face, that is often I needed to connect two computers when I am not in my office network because I want to transfer files to my friend PC. Sometimes I have to establish a shared Internet connection in hotel or some other area like airport. How easy it would be for you if you know how to connect two or more computers? So I come to know this solution for your problem because mine is now resolved and now I want none of you would face it.
Ethernet or FireWire
This is a temporary way of connecting two PC’s together via cable connection. This is the fastest technique and you have to configure the IP address manually because there is no DHCP (dynamic host configuration protocol) present. Ethernet or Fire Wire (IEEE 1394) cable is used and it is a faster mode of transferring files than Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. There are some limitations in using these files that Fire Wire connections works with both XP machines or an XP machine and a MAC but not with Vista. Similarly for Ethernet a cross over or patch cable is required or a hub/switch. The cables are labeled as patch or crossover. During traveling I like to keep Fire Wire cable or cross over cable with me.
First connect the two PC’s with the cable then follow these steps to get connected. Go to Control Panel and open Network Connections. Open the properties by right clicking your connection. Click TCP/IP and open properties. Select Use the following IP address and enter 192.168.0.1 in IP address and 255.255.255.0 in the subnet mask then closes the all dialog boxes. Repeat the same process for the other PC but enter 192.168.0.2 its IP address. In this way two Pc’s get connected.
Share the Internet Over a Wired Connection
You can share a Wi-Fi signal in hotel or airport, share a 3G mobile connection to a friend by using this technique or sometime let other to steal Internet signal. This technique requires a two connections; one for the internet and other for the second PC. And it is not possible to pass WI0FI signal via Wi-Fi without another plug and if both PC’s are connection through Ethernet by patch cable. So crossover cable must be used.
Connect your computer to the internet, and make sure that your IP address of router is other than 192.168.0.x such as 192.168.2.1 because Windows itself take the 192.168.0.x subnet and will give errors if it fails to do so.
Open Network Connections in Control Panel and open the properties of the active connection by right clicking it. Click Advanced tab and select Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection. And select 1394 for Fire Wire or Local Area Connection for Ethernet if necessary. Click OK.
Other Pc, i.e. client computer, should be set to automatic configuration. Open Network Connections in Control Panel and open the properties of that connection which is connected to host PC via 1394 for Fire Wire or Local Area Connection using a cross over Ethernet cable by right-clicking it. Select internet protocol (TCP/IP) and click properties. Click Obtain an IP address automatically and close the all dialog boxes. Both PC’s are online now.
Connect Two PCs on an Ad Hoc Wi-Fi Network
Wi-Fi connections are different from wired connections because they can access many computers. When you configure the host PC it acts like a wireless router and other PC’s can join it. By using this technique you can share files or bridge a cable connection to wireless colleagues.
Many PC’s having Wi-Fi have a networking utility or a chip provided by the vendor and may vary from PC to PC. This can be used to configure the ad hoc network. But if you want to configure it through Control Panel, first open your utility and make sure it is set to permit Windows to make changes to hardware.
Go to Control Panel and open Network Connections. Open the properties by right-clicking the Local Area Connection. Under Advanced tab select the Internet Connection Sharing box so that other users can connect. Click Ok.
Now, in Network Connection right-click Wireless Network Connection and choose Properties. Click the Wireless Networks tab, and click Add. Type a name, e.g. Adhocshare, and at the bottom check the box ‘computer-to-computer network’. And also uncheck the box ‘the key is automatically provided’. You can have a password for the network in Network Authentication menu. Click Ok.
Open your icon of wireless adapter in Network Connections. Click View Wireless Networks, and type the name for ad hoc network and then click Connect. On the client computer open Network Connections and open Wireless Network icon by double clicking it. Click View Wireless Networks, select ad hoc network, and click Connect. And give a password if u have set on host PC.
Now files can be transferred between client computers. Like ICS method IP address should be different from 192.168.0.x subnet.
Share Files on Your Temporary Network

If your computers get connected, files can be transferred. Whether or not they are connected by a shared connection.Right-click the folder you want to share and click Sharing and Security. Select Share this folder on the network, and then click Apply.
Now, go to My Computer on the client PC, and click My Network Places. Click Add a network place. Click next twice and selecting the Choose another network location option. Expand Entire Network, Microsoft Windows Network, and Workgroup by clicking Browse, and you will see the host computer. Select the shared folder, and click OK and next until you finish.
Files can be copied now from host computer and if u want for the client to make changes or modify your file on the host computer, click the Allow network users to change my files when sharing a file from a host.
Send Files Easily via Bluetooth

Many PC’s have Bluetooth as well Wi-Fi, so question will arise in your mind that why use Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi. Its use is simple and two laptops can be connected via Bluetooth and files can be transferred easily. Its transferring rate is slow, but mobiles which have Bluetooth can be connected to PC and you can transfer files especially photos to computer.
Enable the Bluetooth of your PC open Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard. Click the button which is labeled as Receive a file and click next. From the PC you want to send the file open the same wizard and select Send a file, and click next. Select browse and choose other PC. You can use passkey to make the connection secure. Click next and select the file to be transferred.
